Camp Discovery

For the past 20 years, AAD Camp Discovery has given thousands of children and teens with chronic skin conditions the opportunity to enjoy all the fun and adventure of summer camp at no cost to their families.  The Academy’s member dermatologists help make it possible by volunteering their time to ensure the health and safety of our campers. This past summer, nearly 360 children attended six camps in five states.  Camp Discovery boosts self-esteem and gives campers the chance to realize they are not alone in their daily challenges.

SPOT Skin Cancer™

Whether serving our communities by offering free skin cancer screenings to the public, or providing schools and local community organizations with permanent shade structures shielding children at play from the sun, SPOT Skin Cancer™ emphasizes sun safety.  Through the National Skin Cancer Screening Program, Shade Structure Program, and other sun safety initiatives, SPOT Skin Cancer™ will continue to bring our life-saving skin cancer prevention activities to a new level, raising awareness about the importance of early detection and prevention of skin cancer.
