Description:

The Academy offers up to 80 scholarships per year to young dermatologists from countries outside the US and Canada to attend the Annual Meeting.  Recipients receive a stipend towards travel and housing, complimentary meeting registration, and admission to one postgraduate course – ticketed session at the Academy’s meeting.  Applicants must be dermatologists and endorsed by their national dermatologic society.  A maximum of two scholarships are awarded for each country.  These scholarships increase the quality of dermatologic education, disseminate research throughout the world, and provide educational opportunities to international dermatologists.

Description:

The Global Networking Center is a specially-designated area in the convention center with comfortable lounge-type seating, where international meeting attendees have the opportunity to relax, to network and to meet up with their colleagues from around the world.  A multi-lingual representative – international concierge – from the city greets international attendees and assists with questions, information about the city and the meeting.  There is also daily delivery of a selection of international newspapers (may not be available in some destinations).  Electrical outlets are provided for attendees to plug in laptops, cell phone chargers, or other devices so they are never low on power at the meeting.

Hometown Radio Media Interviews (NEW)

Description:

Hometown Radio promotes the expertise of dermatologists to their communities. Dermatologists work with a professional broadcaster and producer to share important skin, hair and nail news by recording a 60-second radio interview on-site at the Annual Meeting.  After taping, each interview is edited and transmitted to radio stations in the dermatologist’s local market.  Thirty to 60 Academy members are interviewed for Hometown Radio and their interviews reach an estimated 200 million people.

Description:

This opportunity is ideal for corporate supporters whose objective is to increase visibility of their company with Academy members and the media who report on dermatology.  Hosted by the chair of the Council on Communications and the Academy president, the luncheon provides an opportunity for the Academy to thank the media for educating the public about the importance of skin, hair and nail health, and motivating them to take action to improve their quality of life.   Approximately 150 people, including the media, SKIN Faculty members and the Board of Directors attend the buffet lunch which is held on Saturday during the Annual Meeting.
